How We Work

We seek to fulfill our mission and objectives through a range of programmes and activities that are open for a wide and diverse audience.  Al Hoash fosters a welcoming space for artists, curators, researchers and audiences to meet, cultivate and present their work,   interact and discuss arts and culture. We provide a vibrant, inclusive and diverse cultural space making art and associated knowledge accessible to the Palestinian community.

Our curatorial projects, art commissions and regular exhibitions seek to present historic and contemporary works of Palestinian artists, encourage, and facilitate new productions. We also encourage the integration of art into public spaces and regularly work in collaboration with social, touristic and commercial sectors in the city to that effect  Through art workshops, film screening, seminars, lectures and panel discussions, we support and facilitate the integration of art within the community.

Al Hoash’s interest in preserving art collections and archives and its focus on their role in generating opportunities for research and knowledge production regarding historic and contemporary Palestinian art, has marked the work of al Hoash since its establishment. It responds to one of al Hoash’s main objectives to preserve Palestinian visual arts and their social and cultural history.

In its 2021–2024 strategy, Al Hoash has further developed its core Visual Arts Resource Hub programme  “YURA”. YURA is a long-term programme that offers a knowledge and archival resource, that is open and accessible to diverse audiences, through a digital platform (website). The platform offers a gallery of digitized archival materials from the perspective of the social and cultural history of visual art and culture in Palestine, as well as regular new research projects about historical and contemporary Palestinian visual arts, fostering critical reflective engagement and encouraging discussions about Palestinian art and culture within their social and historical contexts.
